THE PROGRAMME


Designed for Doctors interested in Endocrinology, Diabetes Mellitus,
Metabolism and Clinical Chemistry in the UK and abroad. Allied Health professionals can be admitted on the basis of working as a specialist in the field and with a science based degree with a 2:1 or above.

 

  • Part-time, Distance Learning Programme
  • Teaching from leading and international experts
  • Flexible learning activities including online lectures, podcasts, guided reading, case analysis, 'ask the expert' and 'hot' topics
  •  

    The programme consists of:

    A taught programme over 4 semesters (leading to a Postgraduate Diploma from the University of London) covering the following modules:

  • Generic Skills and Core Knowledge
  • Hypothalamus and Pituitary
  • Thyroid, Parathyroids and Bone
  • Reproductive, Pregnancy and Paediatric Endocrinology
  • Metabolism, Energy Balance and Lipids
  • Adrenal Medulla and Cortex
  • Either Genetics, Oncology and Neuroendocrine Tumour Or Clinical Chemistry
  • Diabetes Mellitus
  •  

    This can be followed by a subsequent dissertation module based on either :

  • an independent research project, or
  • clinical cases

  • The dissertation, together with the taught diploma programme leads to an MSc from the University of London.

In the same exercise, the School was ranked first in London, ahead of University College, Imperial College and King's College.

    Endocrinology was assessed together with the Inflammation and Cardiovascular research groups of the William Harvey Research Institute. Within the assessment group we were ranked 3rd in the country with 65% of staff being rated 3*/4*.
